We grew up in a small town in rural Arkansas.

The roads are long and winding, and not always paved.

Summer means lakes and ponds for swimming and fishing.

Most everybody farms in one way or another.

Independence Day is marked with fireworks, festivals, and pageants.

In a small town, everybody comes out to show their American pride, and to support the local talent. Small town residents are very connected to their faith in God and country, and are the first to rally for patriotism.

This week at Ihearfaces the theme is one of telling who we are and why we love our country. I enjoy checking out the pictures there. This isn’t a competition week but it will still be fun to see the other entries.

Thanks for checking out my blog! I love small towns, too. I also love the conveniences of a city, but when it comes down to it, I’d give up Starbucks. I still get the dish on whether my ex-boyfriend was at my parents church or not (although I’ve been married 4 years now!). So fun.

My favorite is the one with the girl jumping into the water… Love it!
