Alias Names. Don’t you have one?

by Dena

Many years ago, before the times of caller ID and internet tracking, I was quite good at prank phone calls. I also kept an arsonel of fake names at my disposal and had fun using them when signing in to restaurants, shopping, or anywhere that a name is called out.

In later years, Joy chose her name. It was from the show, Friends, and when I send pictures to Wal-Mart, she has to pick them up under the name Anastasia Beaverhousen.

That's MRS. Beaverhousen to you.

That's MRS. Beaverhousen to you.

Of course, the kids wanted a name.

I'd look you to meet, Harry Bison.

I'd look you to meet, Harry Bison'.

He will kill me for telling this, but many years ago we were at a restaurant and he looked at a bison burger. (Long I, means buffalo) “What’s bison’?” (Short I, sounds French)

What one has, so must the other.

The husbands must be named as well. My husband:

THE Lanny Poffo

THE Lanny Poffo

But, there really is a Lanny Poffo.  I guess he is Lanny the 2nd. When we went to New Orleans I signed in as Mrs. Lanny Poffo. (nobody cared)

Joy’s husband was recently christened with his alias name.

?

This is Manny Quinn.

I’m sure he wonders what he has married into.

Me? I’m Mitzi Von Muffington. Over the years we have sent mail, birthday cards, and many other fun things with these names. I guess it doesn’t take much to amuse us.

Finally, Good News

by Dena

The last few weeks have seemed to be filled with bad news at each turn. This week has been the polar opposite.

Sunday, there were two beautiful baby girls born to friends of mine.  I have some friends who are one huge step closer to becoming parents to a beautiful baby girl. Joy and her husband bought a house and got moved in. Mother went home from the hospital.

I’m thankful for all of these great things and hope that the trend continues. I do appreciate the good times so much more after the bad times. Don’t we all?

Remember that song….

by Dena

…One Thing Leads To Another? Well, that reminds me of Mom lately.

For a while now she’s had kidney stones like nobody’s business. When she passes them the nurses don’t count them, they measure them.

Then, a test showed she needs to possibly have heart surgery. This is  touchy because of the extreme damage done to her heart from an unnecessary pacemaker and following staph infection two years ago.

So, on the way to have further testing on her heart, she fell and broke her shoulder and few ribs. No testing can be done until her shoulder is a little better.

Meanwhile, she starts having digestion issues. She spent a weekend in the hospital throwing up what looked like coffee grounds. Finally, they put in an NG tube and pumped out several canisters of ick and goo.

She was moved to ICU and her bleeding ulcer was cauterized. She has had several blood transfusions and another week in the hospital. Finally, yesterday, she went home to rest up for the big test on her heart.

Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

In the past week, Dad had a birthday and Ninny had one yesterday.

Fall is finally here, and football is well underway. Nothing brings a small town together like a Friday night football game. (and the band, cheerleaders, majorettes, ect)

This is a Thursday night middle school game.

Now, I’m off to get ready for church and the day of studying 8th grade algebra.

89

by Dena

Today is my precious mother in law’s 89th birthday.

ninny 003This is her this morning, reading a card.

Last year I created a facebook for her and accidentally listed her birthday wrong. Everyone pointed it out last year and I still forgot to change it. Oh well, she gets to celebrate her birthday all week!

Isn’t she pretty in red?

She still bakes pies, brags on her grandkids and greatgrands, and ends each conversation with an “I love you”.

Happy Birthday Ninny, and many more.
