I wondered if I had a picture that I had already taken for the book theme. Then it hit me. Of course I do.

This picture was taken when my daughter had a book signing for her story that was published in a Chicken Soup For The Soul book. She wrote about her dog and how helping him become a part of our family helped her heal and make our family stronger after being adopted from foster care. She read her story at a local library meeting, she spoke at a National Adoption Day event, and was even on the morning news segment with the dog. Live.
While it was exciting for her to have had a story published, it was more exciting to me to see the outpouring of love and support from our small town. They invaded Books-A-Million and she sold out of books within minutes. (they donated all profits made during the signing to the Rainbow Room for abused children) People supported her in everything she did.
I am so proud of her. I look back at these pictures to choose one for this and I am one again blown away by the people in our lives. Her story touched many and the people here touched me.

I have plenty of those.
………………………………..

Thanks to their teen aunt who taught them the fine art of sticking their tongues out for pictures.

Thanks to Lucky the Dog for making smiles extra big and goofy.

All the planning, cute matching reindeer outfits, and precious kids are shot to heck with one lesson from the 13 year old aunt in how to stick your tongue out in pictures.

……………………………………….

……………………………
She did redeem herself later by singing a song that she and I wrote for Christmas. The video looks weird til it starts and is shaky, but the best we could get with a half dozen kids running around hyped up on sugar.
I’m adding this to the link up for IHeartFaces Christmas Bokeh week. Although not what I had planned, it will be a cute memory. Someday.

The photo challenge at IHeartFaces this week is Pink in honor of breast cancer awareness. Our previous entry tells of a friend who recently discovered she had breast cancer. An elementary school teacher(35), her entire school donned pink on the day of her surgery.
Our town was pink this week as we had the 13th Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. Our Friday night football game was a Pink Out game and this the shirt my daughter wore. My daughter is 13 and will never remember a time when we didn’t take time in October to remember those who we’ve lost, honor those who have fought, and pray for those in the battle. She will also know the measures to protect herself.

Check out the other entries at IHeartfaces or add your own.

This week’s theme is Raise Your Hands.
I loved this shot the second I took it.
Add your own picture that focuses on hands, or check out the others at IHeartFaces.

Now I need to get ready to work. Yes, we have school today. I don’t mind it since we are out the whole week of Thanksgiving. I like that trade.
