Red Velvet Wisdom

Today is the last day that Joy is a single lady. Tomorrow she begins the day as one person and ends the day  another. (Kind of like Kate Middleton but without the money, press, and titles.) Today we put the finishing touches on a long time of planning and organizing.

We’ve had fun comparing this wedding to the royal one but in reality, it is more like the one from  the movie Steel Magnolias. Instead of Truvy’s Beauty Spot, our mom will be getting her do on at Peggy’s Hair Barn.

Instead of Lousiana we are in Arkansas. Close enough, only about 30 minutes away. The wedding is taking place right after Easter, just like the movie.I didn’t have a trunk full of eggs, but did enough.

I wanted to have blush and bashful, but Joy chose the black, white and a dark purple. I’m sure it has a name but it isn’t plum! Don’t buy plum and think you will match anything.It isn’t purple either.

Remember when Anelle stuffed the rolls in her purse? We got that covered too. (Just kidding Mom!)

Seriously, we are using some of the music from the movie. While I love the movie, I hope that this is where we part ways with the likenesses. I want Joy and Gavin to stay well and live a long happy life.

So, I’m off to find some dark purple ribbon. I bought the last roll at Hobby Lobby and have used it all. Wonder if Kate found Hobby Lobby as helpful as I have?

Less than two weeks until the day and I’m afraid that our side of the family isn’t representing so well. So far, we have had more than our share of sickness and injury.

• Mother has had some sort of crazy case of kidney stones. She had two bouts in the hospital and the nurses lost count of the kidney stones at over 100. They also lost all of her medications she brought in to be documented.
• Rod was almost hospitalized with blood poisoning due to a cat bite. He missed a week of work, had an ER visit, several doctor visits, and multiple shots and medicines.
• I have fallen twice in the last week. Today I stepped in a hole and hoped that my foot was still attached when I stood up. My first thought was, “THE WEDDING IS IN TWO WEEKS!”.
• Boo was diagnosed today with mono. She is young and should shake it off quickly. Of course, now I am hobbling around to wait on her hand and foot.
• Our brother, Chad, is in the hospital after knee replacement surgery. He is going to do super rehab so he can be at the wedding.
• Last but not least, is Snowball. He somehow broke his leg into many small pieces and had to have major reconstructive surgery. Cat recovery is pretty complex, thus the cat bite infection.

Hopefully, everyone will be on the mend soon. We have to stay healthy and well for two more weeks.

He is screaming to go outside.

Lucky is trying to stay out of the sick zone and be safe. He wanted to be the ring bearer but Joy hasn’t realized how awesome he would be.

I know that no matter what it takes, we will all be there and be ready for the big day.

Well, maybe not Snowball.

He’s still a little cranky.

Twenty four days until the Royal Wedding. And then there will be Joy’s. Somehow, Prince William and Kate stole her thunder by getting married the same weekend. Joy was none too happy but is pretty sure that they haven’t copied any of her ideas. It will be fun to compare the two weddings in the days afterward.
