IHeartFaces:Soft and Sweet

by Dena

I would have to use a wedding photo this week no matter what the theme is! It was beautiful and amazing. We’ll both write more later, but months of planning dragged by and then in the blink of an eye….she took off down the aisle.

So, I am entering this shot as soft and sweet.

IHeartFaces:Pets

by Dena

This week at IHeartFaces, the theme is Pets. That should be a no brainer for us, considering the vast amount we have. Instead, I decided to use one that reminds me of an old pet of ours.

RVW 080a

One winter when there was a bad snowstorm, one of Dad’s cows had a calf on the creekbed. He couldn’t save the cow but got the calf and brought it home. In our most creative power we could muster, we named the calf Snowy.

Snowy was bottle fed and lived in the yard like a dog for a while. She grew quickly and thought she was a dog. We fed her treats of cookies and muffins and could recognize our voices before she ever saw us.  Mom demanded she be moved after a few episodes of being chased around the yard.

The thing about Snowy is that even many years later, she knew our voices and expected  a treat. She had many calves and lived a long life for a cow. When she passed (from cancer), we all cried and weren’t really surprised that we had 2o years worth of funny stories about a cow.

This cow is one of her grandbabies and reminds me of her, minus wanting a treat. She is sweet though because I didn’t use a zoom to get this shot. I was right in her face!

IHeartFaces:Shadows

by Dena

This week at I Heart Faces the theme is shadows. I don’t have a lot of shadow pictures because the sun is my enemy. You know that if you’ve seen my pasty white skin.

Boo

I wanted to take a moment to remind everyone that April is National Child Abuse Awareness month. In the US, between 4-5 children die each day from abuse. 75% of those are under the age of 4.

We will be participating in Go Blue day this week for our local county. I would hope that everyone can find a way to particpate in something.  Become a volunteer, tie a blue ribbon on your car, or reach out to a family who might need support.

Best of March

by Dena

Today is really no less busy than the last few months but I am determined to get back in the swing of things around here. The theme at IHeartFaces is the Best of March and I couldn’t let it pass without entering this picture.

Boo

This is one of my favorite of Boo and I took it just a few weeks ago.

Boo thought I forgotten about this place, but the truth is a few things have had me (and Joy) pretty swamped.

  1. Mom has been in the hospital
  2. My cat had major reconstructive surgery on his broken leg and his recovery was intense.
  3. So intense that he bit my husband and he soon developed  a raging infection and was almost hospitalized.
  4. Boo has been busy in things and I’ve had a crash course in Southern beauty pageants.
  5. JOY’s WEDDING!

So, we are back and ready to share the month of wedding planning and all we have neglected. For now, check out the other entries at IHeartFaces. If you feel so inclined, you can vote for this picture!

Happy New Year!

by Dena

So many things have cropped up in our lives that have taken us away from here. We’ve had family illness, school events, and unexpected things pop up. Thankfuly, everyone is well and we are looking forward to a  great new year.

What a better way to start that with an I Heart Faces Challenge? The one for this week is Best Face Photo of 2010. I have taken a lot of pictures but this one stands out to me. Maybe because my neice gave it to Dad in a frame for his birthday and trumped us all in the gift department. Whatever!

Today is back to the real world for me. I’ve been off for two weeks. I should have been posting recipes but was busy taking breathing treatments and resting as much as I could.

Start your new year by checking out the other pictures at IHeartFaces.
